Uhhh, it may take longer than I thought

I'm still in a rough patch (it's a new patch EVERYTIME), the next chapter would most likely be released at the end of this year or at the start of next year. I have not given up on yami no aegis and I am goddamn determined to translate it, it's been my early teenage dream thats overdue to translate and complete a series. I'MMMM NOT GIVING UUUUP!!! *scream roars maniacally with determination*

Also, if I forgot to credit the help, please remind me I actually got help with the next chapter.

I agree Tate is a bit overdramatic with his "My life was tragic and I moved on" or "you need to move on" speeches. I sometimes feel he can't be taken seriously when he does them,  I wonder if its because of how the author draws him, he always looks so, purposeful and serious and stares ahead of himself (like looking towards the future) that makes him look a bit dramatic when he does his speeches. I wonder if he does this deliberately so we can all have a giggle at him. I have a strange like and dislike relationship with Tate, you'll find out why when I release that chapter, because I'd be ranting about it LOL.

I love the series because its one of those series that has one of those rare perfect flows in story telling. Nothing looks out of place and nothing looks randomly inserted so the character just have one of his strange moments that the author just had a writer's block and needed to force something in there to make ends meet or to appeal to a fanbase who laughs at stupid stuff. Everything makes sense and still make sense despite how complex all of the characters and the world they are living in. This guy seems to know his characters really well and manages to plan their situations and interactions with others really well, nothing so outlandish that it would not seem realistic in their world, everything seems perfectly balanced.

Oh wow, I basically wrote a short review on the series. Well I did plan to run a manga and anime review blog. This wasn't such a bad time to practice XD.

I'm still translating

I'm just posting here to say I am still translating chapter 57 of yami no aegis in case I freaked a whole lot of people out. I thought I was going to get it completed on my semester break, I was dearly wrong as I came across translator crisis (e.g confidence issues) and obtaining a graphics tablet to reduce the repetitive strain injuries I got from translating the last time, which makes my life a whole lot more easier. The entire time was used up because I was trying to get a graphics tablet and was trying find the cheapest option.

I decided to tackle the dialogue at least once a week. I also found the time to read other manga series in both English and Japanese to reaffirm how I should translate other series.

Kanji Horrors

Just sharing a kanji horror which makes me wonder if I have a horrible scan, or it really is the best that the scanner can capture because it is such a complicated kanji and the font on the material is too small to have all of its details captured. I'm not lying, this is frequent and common with kanji that has more than 12 strokes and has a structure like that (zooming in doesn't help). All the images are so clean and clear that they don't need any cleaning at all so it makes me lean towards the latter.

 I often have to base off my experience of writing chinese script of what the character may look like, researching complicated kanji and know how to distinguish what is a stroke from blobs like the one you see in this uploaded sample I have provided. I also write my idea of how the character may look like on my device so the program on my device bring up a selection of characters that resembles the character the most and match it to what it looks like the most. The rest of the work is proofreading to see if it makes sense, if it doesn't work, rinse and repeat until I get it right. If all fails, I ask a Japanese friend, which has not happened yet, so my method seems to be working and the kanjis,as far as I know, are making sense in the context it is used.

This is actually an interesting experience. Throughout my translations and my posts you're most likely going to see more posts like these because, I sometimes feel like a crazy person doing something crazy, for the love of manga, translating and problem solving and I feel goddamn proud I have not given in yet, judging by the number of these "blobs" that I keep coming across. This series hates english translators and I sometimes feel its resistance to being translated, is a challenge to my pride.

I have considered buying the actual manga to solve this issue but the problem is that I am not in Japan and I honestly am not sure if the kanji would look any clearer without me checking it in real life before buying it. I may change my mind one day. I am not going to ask for donations, that kind of thing makes me feel awkward.

Anyway, chapter 57 of yami no aegis is currently being translated.

I've been recieving gratitude for translating "yami no aegis" and I got to say, I feel really appreciated and I feel its another good incentive to drive me to make sure I keep translating this series, as well as knowing there are other people out there reading this series and wants to read up to the end of it like me. I was reading comments on batoto, and realised I should also say somewhere that although there are so many problems that makes it hard to translate manga from the lack of furigana to blurry complicated kanji, it gives rise to developing translating skills and allowed me to figure out and experiment how I can use and how far I can push translating programs and it forces me to practice my analytical skills in deciphering the structure of the Japanese language.

It is depressing knowing so many translators avoid series like this because it stretches your knowledge of the language and it uses a lot of kanji, but I can't help but to see the good side of it where because it is untranslated and I want to read it, I can easily build my motivation and confidence in learning to read Japanese by using this raw untranslated series. I have considered translating easier to read series, but most likely those are already translated so it kinda kills my motivation and fun (including the element of surprise of whats being said), especially when I know whats been said in Japanese because I read the English translation of it beforehand instead of using any real linguistic skill to figure out the meaning of the sentences based of the particles, verbs, terms etc used in the story. I like learning languages and I appreciate everyones help and appreciation.

I knew where the problems lie when it comes to translating manga and other material years ago, but actually experiencing it is a different case. Its a fun, fustrating and amusing satisfying experience especially when you complete the a translation. I also have fun writing kanji, I studied Mandarin for three years and writing Chinese script has always been my forte and brings back many fond and relaxing memories of back when I use to learn Mandarin. So I'm not really deterred when I see kanji in manga because I either recognise it, or have a hell of a good idea of how to write it. However that doesn't stop me from every now and then having trouble finding the kanji in online dictionaries, because of the font and size they are written on a program, they can look slightly different to how they are actually written in real life and its even worst when I have never seen them in real life before haha!

Also, Japanese is not the only language I want to learn, I also want to learn a few others, including Chinese, so if all goes well, expect to see me release translations in other languages, assuming by then I have not got bored of translating XD.

I realised if I were to ever seek help I also need to verify the skill of the candidate by comparing their work to the original raws, I can't just simply look at an already editted and finalised sample and assume the person can do their job.
